Luminous mandarin meets a heart of rose and peony, softened by vanilla and delicate musk.
THE NOTES / AN ITALIAN JOURNEY
01 / Top note
Mandarin
Juicy · Bright · Gently sweet
The vivid freshness of mandarin peel, rounded by the sweetness of the fruit beneath it. This citrus opening feels easy and spontaneous, bringing a little sunlight to the floral heart.
ITALIAN INSPIRATION / PALERMO · CIACULLI
In Ciaculli, on Palermo's outskirts, the late mandarin ripens between January and March. It carries Sicilian brightness into the cooler months, with an aromatic peel and a sweet heart. Our mandarin story holds that small surprise: winter sunlight on a kitchen table, a piece of fruit shared, the scent left on your fingers.
Soft petals, a fresh green edge and the fullness of a flower just opening. Rose gives Donna its romantic center, balancing the brightness of mandarin with a more tender, rounded floral impression.
ITALIAN INSPIRATION / FIRENZE · 1381
Florence has a written memory of roses. Santa Maria Novella dates its earliest documented aromatic production to 1381, when scented waters included rosewater. That small historical detail brings the flower close: petals becoming something you can carry, keep and return to. Our rose story begins with that intimacy, centuries after that first written record.
An airy floral impression, like petals still cool from the morning. Peony brings space and freshness around the rose, keeping the heart light, open and softly radiant.
ITALIAN INSPIRATION / VITORCHIANO
At the Centro Botanico Moutan in Vitorchiano, Chinese peonies have found an Italian garden. Their flowering unfolds through April and May, with different varieties taking their turn. This is the Italy behind our peony image: a path you follow slowly, a flower opening wider than your hand, an afternoon you wish would wait.
A mellow sweetness with the warmth of a vanilla pod. It softens the floral edges and adds a comforting depth beneath the petals, bringing the composition towards a smooth, rounded finish.
ITALIAN INSPIRATION / PELLEGRINO ARTUSI · 685
In recipe 685, Pellegrino Artusi perfumes his custard with vanilla, adding its aroma shortly before taking the pan off the heat. It is a wonderfully small instruction, and an intimate Italian connection. Our vanilla image lives in that kitchen: a spoon set down, something sweet still warm, someone staying to help you finish.
A smooth, softly enveloping scent impression that brings the other notes together. The musk accord cushions the vanilla and florals, giving Donna the quiet softness suggested by silk against the skin.
ITALIAN INSPIRATION / VENEZIA · IL MUSCHIERE
In Venice, the perfumer was once called a muschiere. Palazzo Mocenigo recreates the workshop of this maker of scents for bodies, rooms, clothes and accessories. That attention to the things closest to us inspires our soft musk image: the inside of a collar, a borrowed shirt, the small comfort of recognising someone with your eyes closed.
