Around Reggio Calabria, bergamot has a landscape of its own. The area's protected essential oil is obtained by cold pressing the fruit, preserving the bright character held in its peel. At Villa Carlotta on Lake Como, a Lebanon cedar belongs to the garden's botanical collection. It offers an Italian setting for our cedarwood story: branches overhead, pale gravel underfoot, a glimpse of water through the trees.
